We're in the news, September 2023

In an article & interview by Allison Aubrey called ”7 Habits to Live a Healthier Life, Inspired by the World's Longest-lived Communities,” she discusses the Blue Zones and the longevity in these areas. She writes:

“There's a similar prioritization of family and community in Loma Linda, Calif., home to a large concentration of members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. It's one of the original five blue zones and the only one in the United States. (Initiatives aimed at leveraging the blue zone strategies to improve health are underway in communities around the United States.)

Adventists tend to hang out with other Adventists. The church gives them a foundation. "They have potlucks and [take] nature walks," Buettner says. Bottom line, they show up for each other, and they live about seven years longer than the average American.”

This is good news. God has blessed us as we live the way He intended us to!

On the other hand, we are hearing about uncontrolled crime of every kind, more corruption with political ties, wars, efforts toward peace and ties between countries of our world, and the ongoing and now frequent disasters in our country and around the world…

“The deadly firestorm in Hawaii and Hurricane Idalia's watery storm surge helped push the United States to a record for the number of weather disasters that cost $1 billion or more. And there's still four months to go on what's looking more like a calendar of calamities….”

These are serious times we are living in and the Outreach Committee is attempting to set up activities to reach the community and also fulfill our need to spend time with each other. We are family and it is time for us to spend time in God’s Word, pray, set our lives in order, ask for the Holy Spirit and latter rain power and proclaim the 3rd Angel’s Message to our communities (where each of us lives and Shoreline). One final quote…

The restraining Spirit of God is even now being withdrawn from the world. Hurricanes, storms, tempests, fire and flood, disasters by sea and land, follow each other in quick succession. Science seeks to explain all these. The signs thickening around us, telling of the near approach of the Son of God, are attributed to any other than the true cause. Men cannot discern the sentinel angels restraining the four winds that they shall not blow until the servants of God are sealed; but when God shall bid His angels loose the winds, there shall be such a scene of strife as no pen can picture”.—Testimonies for the Church 6:408
