October is an important month... October 2024

Thurgood Marshall became the first African American justice on the US Supreme Court in 1967. The United Nations was founded in 1945. Our Statue of Liberty was dedicated in October as well; along with the opening of the Erie Canal. Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses on a church door in Wittenberg, Germany, which began a movement that rocked the Christian world at that time.

Then there was the Great Disappointment that Jesus did not come to earth to cleanse it as William Miller and those who were part of the Millerite Movement had expected on October 22, 1844. The year was correct, but the interpretation was not. There is something to be said for those who prayerfully look to God and go back to the Bible to check whether an interpretation is correct or not; and if not, what was overlooked… for this is what a given few did and eventually the Seventh-day Adventist Church was born out of that movement.

I am grateful to be an Adventist, for it led me to better health, a lifestyle that I love, and Bible truth that people outside the church are dying to hear. Jesus became more than what I had learned as a child in Sunday school. He is everything to me. October was when I first experienced an Adventist worship service at Mt. Ellis Academy in 1979 while student teaching. I have never been the same since.

How is it with you? You have something to share that is priceless and God will bless your efforts beyond what you can imagine. Jesus’ 2nd coming is very close. Won’t you share the beautiful truths you have loved in order to give hope to our dying world? MB
