Happy New Year! January 2026

Do you have any resolutions? I really don’t like them, but I have decided to study the gospels 1 chapter a day—for a fresh look at Jesus and look more closely at His method of reaching people. I also want a closer walk with Him. Would you join me in doing this?

I know it is really early to make an appeal… like it is a bit early  for a friend of mine to consider what he is going to have in his garden and his greenhouse during the growing season. It’s not even the middle of winter! But in a month, it will be time to trim the roses and other bushes. Spring will be here before we know it! He is planning for the harvest and so am I… on my back balcony and in this church of ours at Shoreline.

Our corporate witness as a church and as individuals to others determines what “seeds” we plant in their hearts and minds. That is why daily Bible reading and prayer are essential. We are encouraged in the first part of 2 Peter 3:18 to  “…grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” (NKJV) The more we behold Him and look to Him, our actions and our words will be His and we will have a greater desire to go out into the community, our workplaces/neighborhoods and in our families to reach others for Jesus. What we have is so precious, so real and so beneficial to those outside of our church building! The harvest (the evangelistic series) will bring in those who have been impacted by our friendship, our concern and care and in our invitations to study the Bible and/or attend church.

I pray that you and I will have a stronger connection with our Lord this year and it will have such an effect on others that they will want to know more and commit their lives to Jesus and have the same effect on others. Be blessed! MB
